Student speakers challenged their fellow graduates to live in the moment, seize the day and make every step count
Nearly 500 graduates received their diplomas Thursday evening at Souderton Area High School’s commencement ceremony at the football stadium.
Student speakers challenged their fellow graduates to live in the moment, seize the day and make every step count.
“As all of us journey out, I hope you remember not to just celebrate your victories but to honor your in-betweens because they’ve made you who you are,” said Salutatorian Elizabeth Hercek.
“My challenge to all of you is to continue to seize the day, live it fully, love with your whole heart and never give up,” said Student Council President Reece Pirrone. “Enjoy your journey, and enjoy the present moment.”
“As you step forward into this next chapter, I urge you all to make every step count, every opportunity meaningful and every moment the best one,” said Valedictorian Claire Jalboot. “Don’t just wait for the last one.”
Following the student speakers was Superintendent Frank Gallagher, who commended the graduates for exemplifying the school district’s core principles of innovation, cooperation, compassion and commitment to service.
“I am confident that you will achieve incredible things, and I eagerly await to see the remarkable impact you will make,” said Gallagher.
School board president Stephen Nelson wrapped up the speeches with a piece of advice to the graduates.
“It’s not what happens to you but how you handle the situation,” said Nelson. “Whatever path you pursue in life, you are in control of your story. Every day is a new start in building your story.”
“I congratulate each one of you on your success and extend best wishes to you in all your endeavors,” Nelson concluded.
