St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, a cornerstone of faith and community in North Wales since America declared independence from the British in 1776, will commemorate its 250th anniversary with a series of special events throughout the calendar year.
Highlighting the celebration is a 250th Colonial Service on Sunday, April 26 at 10 a.m., offering a unique opportunity for community members to experience worship as it was conducted at the dawn of American independence.
Led by Pastor Michael Carlson, the Colonial Service will recreate the traditions and spirit of an 18th-century Lutheran service, honoring the congregation’s deep historical roots. Friends and neighbors are invited to share in this immersive celebration of history and faith, bearing witness as several volunteers will attend wearing period fashions. The anniversary celebration is guided by the theme of Faith, Hope & Community, reflecting the church’s centuries-long, enduring mission. St. Peter’s has served as a welcoming home for worship and fellowship since the time of the founding fathers, continuing the church’s legacy every Sunday as a place where all are invited.
Known as the Little Church that Does Big Things, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will mark this semi-sesquicentennial year with a variety of gatherings and community-focused activities. These events are designed to honor the church’s rich heritage, celebrate its ongoing impact and look ahead to the future through its intergenerational fellowship and ongoing service projects in North Wales and beyond.
“For 250 years, St. Peter’s has been rooted in faith and dedicated to serving others,” noted Paster Carlson. “This anniversary is both a celebration of our past and a beginning of our next chapter—continuing to grow, serve and welcome all.”
Additional milestone events include:
