Community invited Sunday evening to eat, shop, sing at annual Lansdale Menorah Lighting

Well Crafted Beer Co. becomes a festival of lights Sunday evening, as the public is invited to celebrate in the free 26th annual Hanukkah Menorah Lighting ceremony, moved indoors from Railroad Plaza due to weather.

The 6 p.m. event at the 310 Madison St. business, located near Railroad Plaza at West Main and Madison streets, is open to all ages and includes a performance by the talented Horns of Hanukkah.

    

    

Attendees can feast on sufganiyot (donuts) from Yum Yum Bake Shops in Colmar, courtesy of the Horsham Center for Jewish Life, hot chocolate from Little’s Ice Cream and Water Ice, courtesy of BZ Orthodontics, and latkes from Pumpernick’s Deli in Montgomeryville.

According to organizers, this year’s event will be packed with activities and giveaways for all ages brought to you by the Lansdale Library, Congregation Beth Or, Temple Sinai, Tiferet Bet Israel, Or Hadash, the Jewish Federation and JCHAI.

Guests can shop at the event with Lei and Gray for new menorah merch, organizers said. Purchases of sweatshirts, beanies and hats benefit the event.

Furthermore, the organizers are holding a winter clothing charity drive at the event as part of the Tikkun Olam.  Guests are asked to bring new hats, gloves and scarves to donate to Mitzvah Circle and receive a raffle entry per donation. Drop off of items can also be done at BZ Orthodontics at 456 E. Hancock St. now until Sunday.

Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew phrase meaning “repairing or mending the world.” It is a Jewish value that emphasizes humanity’s partnership with God to perfect the world through acts of kindness, social justice, and ethical living, according to the event website.

    

The agenda from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. includes the Horns of Hanukkah performance of traditional Hanukkah music on the French horn, food and snacks, activities at the craft table, including making your own Shamash and signing a card for the Horsham Center of Jewish Life’s nursing home residents, taking photos in the photo booth, and purchasing merch. 

    

There is also an activities Bingo card that can be filled in and entered to win the raffle at the welcome table. Screenshot the Bingo image and use a photo editing app to mark off progress, organizers said.

At 6:30 p.m., Hanukkah blessings and the Menorah lighting will take place. 

    

Media sponsor East Hill Media will capture the event in its lenses, who can then provide photos to families after the event, organizers said.
