The Souderton boys lacrosse team opened the District 1-3A playoffs with a strong start Tuesday night and never let go, defeating Plymouth Whitemarsh 9-6 to advance to the second round.

According to gameplay coverage from The Mercury, the 15th-seeded Indians used a dominant second quarter to take control of the matchup, scoring the first four goals of the frame to build a 6-1 lead.

Senior Brody Anderson sparked the surge with a hat trick while Logan Blair added three goals of his own in the victory.

“Once we score a goal just the whole team just gets rallied up and gets hyped up,” Anderson told The Mercury. “That just gives you a lot of motivation, put another one in the back of the net and just keep on rolling.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh battled back to pull within two goals late in the third quarter, but Souderton answered quickly in the fourth with goals from Liam Murray and Blair to regain momentum. Goalkeeper Andrew Rivera anchored the defense with 14 saves, including a stop in the closing seconds to help seal the win. Blair also contributed four groundballs and two caused turnovers, while Murray and Max Ryon added key defensive plays throughout the night, according to gameplay reporting.

The victory sends Souderton into a second-round showdown Thursday night against defending District 1 and PIAA champion Springfield-Delco.
