Lansdale Borough has released details for its annual spring clean-up program, with leaf and yard waste collection scheduled to begin next week.
The borough’s Public Works Department will oversee the program, which includes a structured, section-by-section pickup schedule across town. Collection will begin each day at 6 a.m., and officials are urging residents to follow updated guidelines to ensure materials are collected.
The borough has again divided Lansdale into four sections using Main and Broad streets as dividing lines.
Pickup will take place Monday, May 4 in Section 1; Tuesday, May 5 in Section 2; Thursday, May 7 in Section 3; and Friday, May 8 in Section 4.
Section 1 is bounded by West Main Street, North Broad Street, the North Borough Line and Squirrel Lane.
Section 2 is bounded by East Main Street, North Broad Street, the North Borough Line and North Wales Road.
Section 3 is bounded by West Main Street, South Broad Street, Whites Road and the West Borough Line.
Section 4 is bounded by South Broad Street, East Main Street, Wissahickon Creek and the South Borough Line.
Only leaves and limited yard waste will be accepted during the program. Officials said leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags no larger than 30 gallons and weighing no more than 50 pounds. Plastic bags will not be collected, and containers will no longer be emptied by the contractor.
Borough officials emphasized that bags must contain leaves only. Items such as household trash, grass clippings, or other debris will result in bags being left behind for residents to dispose of through private haulers. Small branches are permitted but must be cut into lengths of four feet or less and no more than six inches in diameter, and placed in biodegradable bags.
Residents should place bags at their usual trash collection location. Unlike in previous years, the borough’s contractor will collect the bags along with their contents, rather than emptying them on site.
If materials are not collected on the scheduled day, residents are asked to report missed pickups as soon as possible by calling 215-361-8371.
In addition to the spring program, Lansdale continues to offer a monthly yard waste drop-off at the Utilities Complex at Ninth Street and Moyers Road. The site accepts leaves, small branches and shrubs from borough residents only, but does not accept grass clippings or materials from commercial landscapers.
Officials also reminded residents that biodegradable leaf bags are available for purchase at local retailers and are not provided by the borough.
The annual program is aimed at helping residents clear out accumulated yard debris while maintaining environmentally responsible disposal practices.
