The Lansdale Borough Police Department will take part in a regional effort to combat food insecurity this spring, serving as a collection site for the 5th annual Magellan Healthcare Food Drive.

Running from May 4 through June 12, the drive supports both local families in need and broader countywide efforts through the Montgomery County Anti-Hunger Network, a coalition that coordinates food distribution among dozens of pantries and meal providers. Additional supporters include Montgomery County, Bucks County, and Bucks County Opportunity Council.

This marks the first year Lansdale Police will host a drop-off location at its station on Vine Street.

Officials said donations collected in Lansdale will directly benefit residents facing hardship, while also contributing to a larger system that distributed more than 1 million pounds of food in 2025 across 77 partner organizations. The network has seen a 140% increase in food distribution since 2022, highlighting growing demand across the region.

Residents are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items and essential household goods during the collection period. Most-needed food items include cereal, pasta, canned soups, fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, baking supplies, boxed beverages such as juice and milk, and culturally specific or dietary foods such as gluten-free, kosher or halal options. Non-food items in demand include diapers in sizes 5 through 7 and pull-ups, pet food, cleaning supplies, storage bags and personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and shampoo.

The drive is part of a larger Bucks-Mont regional initiative organized by Magellan Health in partnership with county agencies and community organizations.

In addition to Lansdale Police, other Montgomery County drop-off sites include:

  • DeKalb Center Norristown, 1430 Dekalb Street, Norristown (main entrance off of Fornance St.)
  • Indian Valley Public Library, 100 East Church Ave, Telford
  • Lansdale Police Department, 1 Vine Street, Suite 201, Lansdale
  • Upper Moreland Free Public Library, 109 Park Ave, Willow Grove

Several Bucks County sites will also accept donations:

  • Bucks County Administrative Office (Main Street Entrance), 55 East Court Street, Doylestown
  • Commonplace Reader, 49 S. Main Street, Yardley
  • Family Service Emergency Shelter, 7 Library Way, Levittown
  • Southampton Free Library, 947 Street Road, Southampton
  • TESCO, 925 Canal Street, Suite 1301, Bristol
  • Warrington Police Station, 892 Easton Road, Warrington

Donors are reminded to check expiration dates before contributing and note that homemade items cannot be accepted.

Police officials thanked the community for its continued support, saying the effort plays a critical role in strengthening the local food safety net and helping ensure residents have access to essential resources.
