Police investigate calls to multiple districts as precautions disrupt school day, similar incident reported in Bucks County
North Penn High School was placed on lockout Monday morning after a threatening phone call prompted a police response and heightened security measures, district officials said.
According to a message from Superintendent Todd Bauer, the school received a call indicating the caller was “enroute to the school to cause harm.”
Officials later learned that similar calls were made to other school districts in the region.
Towamencin Township Police were immediately notified, and the campus was placed on lockout, meaning no one could enter or leave the building while classes continued inside.
As a precaution, all activities involving outside visitors were halted, including elementary school planetarium visits scheduled for the day. District officials said the lockout remained in place as police worked to determine the credibility of the threat.
A similar situation unfolded Monday morning at Pennsbury High School in Falls Township, where officials said the campus was placed in a “secure hold” after a threat was received. Police were notified, buses were rerouted to a nearby middle school and some students were either brought inside or sent home, according to reports.
Authorities have not yet indicated whether the incidents are connected, but both districts said they are working with law enforcement as investigations continue.
The lockout was lifted at 9:25 a.m.
