Elderly pedestrian airlifted with severe head trauma after being hit by car in Lansdale's West Ward Thursday

An elderly woman was airlifted by JeffStat from Lansdale Hospital for treatment of severe head trauma after being hit by a vehicle at Columbia and South Richardson avenues in Lansdale Borough's West Ward Thursday afternoon.

According to Montgomery County emergency dispatch, the victim was bleeding and unconscious following the accident around 4:28 p.m. Police performed CPR and then VMSC Emergency Medical Services personnel took over. The victim was transported with potentially life-threatening injuries at 4:40 p.m., arriving four minutes later. 

The patient was airlifted to Grand View Hospital shortly after 5 p.m.

Columbia Avenue remains accessible, but Richardson is blocked by police and impassable.
