The project includes the demolition of the existing modular classrooms and the construction of a new addition on the northern side of the building.
The Souderton Area School Board approved a $7.5 million renovation/addition project for West Broad Elementary School at their December meeting.
The project includes the demolition of the existing modular classrooms and the construction of a new addition on the northern side of the building. The addition will house a music room, toilet rooms, small group instruction rooms and regular education classrooms. It will also feature a ramp to connect to the existing building, with matching brick and windows.
Additionally, the existing school building will be upgraded with new classroom entrances, windows, toilet room fixtures and finishes as well as infrastructure upgrades to provide better performance and increased energy efficiency.
The project is aimed to bringing the existing building into compliance with the accessibility and code requirements of today’s elementary school buildings as well as the district’s current programmatic and educational goals.
Construction is expected to run from the summer of 2025 to the summer of 2027.
