Two families totaling 14 people were displaced after a fire broke out early Sunday morning at a twin home in Lansdale Borough.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:32 a.m. to the 400 block of Walnut Street for a reported house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions on the first floor and rear of the home, according to Fairmount Fire Company Chief Gavin Butler.
“All properties were already safely evacuated and no injuries were reported,” Butler said.
Firefighters worked to contain the blaze as additional units were called to the scene, with police confirming a working fire and assisting with evacuations. Utility crews were also requested to secure PECO gas and Lansdale electric service.
Alana Mauger of The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania said it provided emergency support to the displaced residents, with Disaster Action Team volunteers responding to assist the two families. Aid may include financial assistance, comfort and emotional care, health services and referrals to local resources to help those affected begin recovery, she said.
Responding agencies included Fairmount Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, Colmar Fire Company, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, Hatfield Fire Company, North Penn Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company and Worcester Fire Company, along with VMSC Emergency Medical Services, Lansdale Police and the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
