A Philadelphia man is headed to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after waiving his preliminary hearing earlier this month on charges tied to an alleged check fraud scheme targeting a Harleysville resident.

Jerimiah Donne Goldwire, 29, of the 1100 block of Venango Street, had all charges held for court following an April 6 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman. He is charged with felony access device fraud, forgery, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity, along with misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to court records.

According to the affidavit filed by Lower Salford Township Police, the case dates back to June 2024, when a resident of the 200 block of Carrie Lane reported that a check had been forged and deposited into an unauthorized account.

The victim told police she discovered multiple checks had not been processed as intended after dropping them off at the Harleysville Post Office, including one later altered and deposited for $879.22.

Investigators said the check was rewritten in Goldwire’s name with a memo referencing “car damages,” and later deposited into a Bancorp Bank account.

Through search warrants and bank records, authorities traced the transaction and account activity to Goldwire, according to the affidavit.

He is free on $5,000 unsecured bail and is represented by public defender Clinton Hermann. A formal arraignment in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court is scheduled for May 13.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
