A long-idled industrial parcel in Sellersville is set to move one step closer to redevelopment, as state officials announced funding to clean up contamination and prepare the site for future housing.

According to a release from Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development approved $125,625 through the Industrial Sites Reuse Program to the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority for remediation work at a 4.9-acre property at 900 East Clymer Ave.

The site is part of the 45-acre Sellersville Business Campus, which includes the former Ametek/U.S. Gauge manufacturing plant. The facility produced pressure gauges and instrumentation for several industries before closing in 2008. Bucks County’s industrial development arm acquired the property in 2013, and the campus was formally established in 2015 as part of a broader effort to reposition the land for modern use.

Funding will be used to address environmental concerns, including soil cleanup, removal of a 20,000-gallon underground storage tank, and ongoing groundwater monitoring. Once completed, the work is expected to bring the property into compliance with Pennsylvania’s Land Recycling Program standards, making it suitable for residential development.

State officials said the project reflects a broader push to reclaim former industrial sites and convert them into productive assets. DCED Secretary Rick Siger said the investment will help transform a dormant property into a safe, usable space that supports community revitalization, while DEP Secretary Jessica Shirley noted the program plays a key role in returning brownfields to productive use and expanding housing opportunities across the state.

The planned residential development would join existing tenants at the business campus, including Solar Manufacturing Inc., which opened its facility there in 2019 as the site’s first occupant.
