Popular Lansdale Environmental Advisory Commission & Pennsylvania Bat Conservation and Rehabilitation event reaches capacity as interest soars
If you were hoping to catch a glimpse of bats taking flight in Lansdale this spring, you are not alone — and you may be a little late to the party.
The Lansdale Environmental Advisory Commission’s upcoming bat education and release program on May 8 has already reached capacity at 45 people, with officials now limiting participation to a waitlist.
The event, held in partnership with the Pennsylvania Bat Conservation and Rehabilitation group, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wissahickon Park building at East Main Street and Lakeview Drive.
Designed as both an educational session and live experience, the program gives attendees a chance to learn about bats and their role in the ecosystem before seeing them up close.
Due to overwhelming demand, organizers said only registered participants will be admitted, with waitlisted attendees contacted if openings arise. Interest in the event has proven, well… bat-ter than expected, as spots filled quickly.
Officials also reminded the public that borough parks close at sunset, and access will be restricted to those registered for the program.
