One new face is guaranteed to take a seat on Hatfield’s board of commissioners in 2026, and voters will choose on Nov. 4 who it will be.
Democrat Karla D’Alessio, who ran unsuccessfully for the seat in 2021, and Republican Erin Blanc are both on the ballot for the Ward 2 seat held since 2014 by Republican Bob Rodgers.
Both candidates were asked the same questions, and below are their answers.
D’Alessio
Describe your background and qualifications for the position you are seeking.
Karla has been a homeowner in Hatfield for the past 34 years. She is a Pennsylvania State University graduate, a certified Project Management Professional, and a retired local pharmaceutical executive with staff management experience.
She has developed and successfully managed complex, multi-departmental budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Karla is also a rescue dog mom of Dalmatians, a sponsor of the local International Spring Festival and a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Sellersville, where she, along with her husband, volunteers in support of many philanthropic efforts.
What are the biggest issues or concerns you hear from local residents? How would you address those?
The two biggest issues Karla hears from her neighbors deal with road congestion and the pace of development in Hatfield.
Karla would push PennDOT to install a left turn arrow at Orvilla on to Cowpath, add turn lanes at Orvilla and Koffel and Orvilla and Welsh roads, and ensure thoughtful development decisions that protect open space and prevent overdevelopment.

Blanc
Describe your background and qualifications for the position you are seeking.
I am running for Hatfield Township Commissioner for Ward 2 because this is a special place to live and raise a family and I want to ensure it remains that way for generations to come. I am a lifelong Hatfield resident and the oldest of four children. My parents still live in the home where I grew up and my in-laws live around the corner. My husband, Jesse, and I chose to raise our two boys here surrounded by family.
My family loves Hatfield’s pool, trails, parks, ballfields and community events at School Road Park. I have served many volunteer roles at AM Kulp Elementary and Pennfield Middle School: yearbook advisor, volunteer coordinator and fundraising lead. In 2025, I was recognized by Hatfield Township as an Amazing Woman who contributes to the community.
I am a graduate of North Penn High School and Temple University, Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I was raised in a small business family, gained experience in large corporations, and now work for a woman-owned local business. These diverse experiences have taught me how to navigate different business environments, connect with people from all backgrounds and find common ground to get things done.
What are the biggest issues or concerns you hear from local residents? How would you address those?
I was eager to start knocking on doors to meet new neighbors and hear their thoughts on life in Hatfield Township. I have already been able to bridge a gap between neighbors and the township with some suggestions they have brought to me.
The top concern of residents is preserving open space. I have met with property owners of some of our largest undeveloped land in Ward 2 and they share that goal. I’ll maintain open communication between property owners and the township to ensure the best outcomes for our community.
Hatfield Township has not raised taxes in 11 years; any increase is due to school and county taxes. I will continue efforts to responsibly spend our tax dollars while maintaining our township’s integrity.
Hatfield Township is a safe place to live, so we must continue to stand behind our emergency services and support them as needed. These dedicated teams deserve our full appreciation and respect.
Through my efforts to make our community the best it can be, I’ve become a trusted resource where neighbors often reach out when there’s a need or call to action. With deep roots in Hatfield, I’ve built lasting relationships that inspire me and will continue to guide me as commissioner. I’m eager to listen and be a strong voice for Ward 2. Together, we can plan thoughtfully for our future and preserve the quality of life we all value in Hatfield Township.
