Michael Patrick Lennon is accused of DUI-related deaths of elderly couple, scheduled for April arraignment
A Towamencin Township man charged with two counts each of vehicular homicide and homicide by vehicle while DUI for his alleged role in a June 2024 crash that claimed the lives of a husband and wife waived his preliminary hearing last week and will be arraigned in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in April.
Michael Patrick Lennon, 21, of Ridgewood Way, is also charged with three misdemeanor counts of DUI of a controlled substance, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and two summary charges of speeding and failure to obey traffic control devices, stemming from his arrest following a crash that claimed the lives of Eva Burgos, 80, of Hatfield, and Jaime Burgos, 87, per court records.
Eva died of accidental blunt impact injuries on June 25, per the Montgomery County Coroner. Jaime’s death followed two days later.
A vehicular homicide conviction in Pennsylvania carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and fines as high as $15,000 per offense.
Authorities allege Lennon, a Pennsylvania Department of Health medical marijuana cardholder, had traces of marijuana in his system when he was speeding in a light blue 2011 Ford Escape on June 8 at 4:59 p.m. southbound on Route 309.
Police allege he lost control in the southbound right-turn-only lane of Route 309 and collided with the driver's side of a white 2021 Toyota Camry at Bergey Road in Hatfield Township.
Four people were sent to Grand View Hospital after the crash for treatment of injuries. Authorities said the rear driver side door had the heaviest intrusion from the Ford.
One of the occupants, a 58-year-old man, had to be rescued from the Toyota. Emergency crews were on scene for four hours. The deceased were both rear passengers in the Toyota, police said.
Lennon is free on $250,000 unsecured bail. He has retained defense attorney Sean Cullen, of Hamburg, Rubin, Maxwell, Mullin and Lupin, P.C., in Hatfield Township.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
