Ten athletes. Three states. One unforgettable weekend.

Souderton Area High School girls track & field athletes took their talents to three of the nation’s premier postseason competitions — New Balance Nationals (Philadelphia), Nike Nationals (Eugene, Oregon), and Adidas Nationals (North Carolina) — from Thursday to Sunday, capping off the 2025 outdoor season with standout performances and new records.

Smith Soars to National Title

Highlighting the weekend was Destini Smith, who claimed the U20 National Championship in the Triple Jump at Nike Nationals in Oregon with a massive leap of 42-7.5 on Thursday evening, according to coach Anthony Pace. Smith then made a cross-country dash to compete at New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, where she earned runner-up honors in the same event with a mark of 42-3.25 on Saturday.

Adidas All-Americans: Shuttle Hurdle Relay Breaks Barriers

At Adidas Nationals, the Shuttle Hurdle Relay squad of Savannah Powlus, Laysha Lee, Aubrie Weismantel, and Isiyah McFadden blazed to a second-place finish in the Championship Division, clocking a PA No. 1 and school record time of 1:05.51 — a performance that earned them All-American status.

Weismantel Sets New Standard in the 400H

Weismantel had a breakout showing in both the 400m Open and 400m Hurdles, winning her heat in both events despite grueling heat.

She shattered the school record in the 400H with a time of 1:05.93, besting the previous mark by nearly four seconds. Her time ranked her in the top 15 out of 90-plus competitors. In the 400 Open, her time of 58.28 was less than three-tenths shy of another school record, placing her 16th overall.

Pettaway Closes Career with Strong Showing

Janae Pettaway ended her Souderton career at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, running a state standard time of 12.39 in the 100m hurdles, marking a strong finish for the senior.

Relay Depth on Display at Adidas

At Adidas Nationals, Souderton’s relay squads and rising talent showcased the program’s depth:

  • The 4x100 Relay team of McFadden, Lee, Brooke Wagner, and Powlus finished 23rd out of 73 schools with a time of 49.99.
  • Leah Dufraine ran a solid 1:02.72 in the Freshman 400.
  • The 4x400 Relay team of Brooke Wagner, Dufraine, Jackie Lee, and Autumn Wagner finished 12th out of 40+ teams, with both Brooke and Autumn setting personal-best splits — Autumn’s 1:01.82 clocking nearly two seconds faster than her previous best.

A Fitting Finale

With national titles, All-American honors, and multiple school records in tow, the Souderton girls wrapped up their 2025 outdoor track & field season on a high note — one that promises even greater things to come.
