The school's principal issued a statement via email to families Sunday night.
An increased security presence will be at North Penn High School Monday, in response to an alleged threatening message posted on social media and reported to authorities via 911 Sunday.
In an email Sunday evening to only families and staff of North Penn High School, Principal Kyle Hassler stated that the district and school were informed by Towamencin Township Police of a 911 call reporting the post.
"Although the threat is not believed to be credible, students will see an increased security presence as a precautionary measure," Hassler wrote in the email. "I want to remind parents to speak with their children about the seriousness of threats, whether legitimate or not."
Hassler said students will face consequences per the district's code of conduct and may be subject to criminal charges.
"Threats are not a joking matter and will be taken very seriously," Hassler wrote.
Neither police nor the district released details on what social media application was used to post the message or the identity of the alleged poster.
