Folks that are rather new to the area may not be aware that the building on E. Broad St. that is now home to Salter's Fireplace & Outdoor Living, was originally the Hatfield firehouse.

Dedicated in 1925, the building was constructed larger then was needed at the time, in order to provide room for future additional vehicles.

In 1926, this extra space was leased to the newly organized Hatfield National Bank.

A photo, taken c.1930, is the only known photo of the bank when it was in the firehouse, with Nelson S. Hartranft, the bank’s Cashier and Manager, standing in front.
