A Philadelphia woman was arraigned last week on three felonies and three misdemeanors related to the theft of nearly $3,000 in electronics and Dr. Scholl’s orthopedic inserts from the Hilltown Walmart over a two-month period last year.

Damia Blanche Darrah, 21, of the 1700 block of North Bambrey Street, is free on $5,000 unsecured bail following a May 18 preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel, according to court records. Darrah is charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft, and receiving stolen property, per court documents.

On Oct. 1, 2023, Hilltown Township Police were informed by Walmart security of a retail theft that occurred the day prior, according to an affidavit. Surveillance footage showed three suspects arriving at the store together, picking out $2,387 worth of merchandise in two shopping carts, and then leaving the store without paying, police said.

Police said a license plate reader captured an image of a black Buick sedan, in which the stolen merchandise and “distinct clothing” worn by one of the suspects can be seen, later identified as Darrah.

On Oct. 19, 2023, Darrah and a male accomplice, police said, returned to the Walmart and placed 12 boxes of orthopedic inserts worth $600 inside a cart and conceal it with a winter jacket. The duo then exited the store without paying, per the complaint.

All in all, the stolen merchandise totaled $2,986.52, police said.

Authorities said Darrah and her accomplice were recently arrested together for retail theft and other charges, and are suspects in other ongoing retail theft investigations.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 18 at 2:30 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
