The driver of a white Acura SUV that struck a pole Thursday evening in Upper Gwynedd will be charged with DUI and related offenses, according to Upper Gwynedd Police Chief David Duffy.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Allentown Road at 8:41 p.m. on March 7 for a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries. Arriving crews observed an Acura SUV that had struck a pole, suffering heavy front-end damage as a result.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 47-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene, Duffy said. She was given a series of field sobriety tests on scene and was later taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
The Acura had to be towed from the scene, and the scene was cleared at 9:30 p.m., police said. The name of the woman has not been released as she has not been officially charged yet.
Upper Gwynedd Police were assisted at the scene by units from VMSC Emergency Medical Services.
