A community hospice and palliative care center on Horsham Road in Horsham Township, across the border of Montgomery Township, is seeking volunteers to help make a difference for its patients in end-of-life care and specialized medical care.

Anyone 18 or older can volunteer at Wellness Hospice and Palliative Care at 1427 Horsham Road and must meet requirements for the application process. Email [email protected] with interest in volunteering.

Volunteers will visit patients to tell them stories, play games, laugh together, read a book, or sit outside.

According to a press release, volunteers spending just an hour every other week makes a difference.

There are other volunteer options for anyone who cannot meet in-person. Per the center, volunteers are welcome to knit, sew, or crochet a lap blanket or memory bear.

Hospice, according to the center’s website, is a comprehensive approach to end-of-life care that provides emotional, spiritual, physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Palliative care involves specialized medical care focusing on improving a patient’s quality of life and comfort during a serious illness or when facing complex medical decisions.

Wellness Hospice and Palliative Care also offers grief and caregiver support.

Contact them at 215-550-1938.
