WATCH: Lansdale Police Rescue Fox from Batting Cage Netting

To Lansdale Police, protect and serve does not stop at humans – the town’s feral furry residents need help sometimes, too.

Take the case of Sunday morning outside Lansdale Catholic High School, where two of Lansdale’s finest — Sgt. Matthew "The Fox Whisperer” Erbele and Officer James "Steady Hands” Thompson — responded to a call of a fox entangled in batting cage netting.

Body cam video of the rescue shows Eberle calming the fox with "No bites, no bites, it’s OK” and "How’s that? Is that better?” as Thompson uses scissors to snip the netting wrapped around the fox’s tail and legs.

As onlookers watched, the dynamic duo found each entanglement, snipping pieces of netting, until the fox was free and ran off.

"Does the fox have representation? It looks like we have some batting cage nets that need to be replaced!” wrote Lansdale Catholic on Facebook.

"Officers thank you so much for responding and helping this little critter. You did an amazing job at keeping him calm,” responded Ellie Pellak on the department’s Facebook post of the rescue. "Thank you for everything you do to keep us all safe. You are appreciated.”
