Montgomery County’s Health and Human Services Department is facilitating a back-to-school donation drive that will collect backpacks, binders, pencils, and much more for families in need around the county. The drive began on July 25 and will continue through Aug. 23. The public, as well as county staff and employees, are welcome to donate.

Montgomery County will sponsor Norristown Area School District (NASD) during this year’s drive, coordinating donations from across county departments and staff to benefit NASD students in need. The county provided school supplies to more than 700 students during last year’s drive.

“As our K-12 students in Montgomery County begin their new school year, they need the right tools to succeed,” said Jamila H. Winder, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “As a product of the Norristown Area School District, I’m grateful to our county employees and community members for contributing to this back-to-school drive, so students walking the same halls I once did will be prepared for a new year of learning.”

“We are so very thankful and appreciate that Montgomery County, under the leadership of Commissioner Winder, will sponsor the Norristown Area School District this year with their Back-to-School Drive,” said Christopher T. Dormer, NASD’s Superintendent of Schools. “The opening of school each year is an exciting time for students, families, and staff. Helping ensure our children will have the right tools to support their educational journey this year will allow each and every student to start the school year with confidence and enthusiasm.”
