Police Investigating Attempted Murder-Suicide in Lansdale Borough

UPDATE: Sept. 12, 1:31 p.m. - In a phone interview with North Penn Now, Lansdale Borough Police Chief Mike Trail described the incident as an attempted murder-suicide.

According to Trail, police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:12 p.m. along the 800 block of Concord Place in Lansdale Borough, after a male caller advised county dispatch that he had shot a woman and intended to shoot himself. Arriving police made entry into the home and encountered the man, who was still holding a firearm.

The man then shot himself, Trail said.

Both the man and the woman were transported from the scene via ambulance, with one being airlifted to a trauma center in Philadelphia and the other receiving treatment at an area hospital. Both the man and the woman were alive at the time they were transported, according to Trail.

"There is no threat to the public, and the firearm is accounted for," said Trail.

Corroborating sources tell North Penn Now that both the man and the woman were elderly in age. The names of the man and woman are being withheld by this news organization as that information has not been made public.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Lansdale Borough Police Department and the Montgomery County Detective Bureau. Trail said investigators would provide more information later on Tuesday.
