One of the biggest, and most well attended, nights of the year is this Saturday! Every year, Fairmount Fire Company brings together some of the most beautiful, exotic, and interesting cars for their annual Under the Lights Car Show. The show, as usual, will officially begin at 7 p.m. and run into the evening with the awards taking place at the end of the evening on the main stage near the Wells Fargo building.
As a reminder, Main Street will be shut down for the event beginning around 3 p.m. from Broad Street to Valley Forge Road, along with portions of Susquehanna Avenue, Green Street, Wood Street, and Madison Street. Please take extra care as you navigate in and around town prior to and during the event. This is one of our heaviest foot traffic days of the year and there will be pedestrians traveling to and from the show throughout the evening. I would strongly encourage you to walk to the show if possible, however, if you are looking to drive in for the show the following locations will be easily accessible for parking and close to the show I would try the Lansdale SEPTA Garage or the Vine Street Public Lot.
As usual, I have the great honor of selecting a “Mayor’s Choice” award for the show and will be sharing on my Facebook page, Friends of Garry Herbert, which cars are in contention for the award. Please feel free to join in the conversation and share your favorite picks.
Finally, please remember to be safe, courteous, and kind throughout the show. There will be lots of people around our community and a little patience and kindness can go a long way. As a final reminder, although the Main Street is closed, this is not an open container event. We ask that all alcohol remain at home or indoors and not on Main Street.
It looks like the any rain on Saturday will be taking place earlier in the day and will not be affecting the event. Please have a wonderful car show and if you see me milling about, show me your favorite car and maybe it will this year’s Mayor’s Choice!
