Lansdale’s Whites Road Park has received a $5,000 grant from PECO’s Green Region Open Space Program. The money awarded by this grant will be used to upgrade the electrical systems at Whites Road Park’s pavilion.
These upgrades will include security lighting beneath the pavilion as well as increased lighting for the ADA parking area. The grant may also fund the potential installment of security cameras in and around the park, as well as upgrades to the park’s public restrooms.
In a press release, the Borough said that by upgrading the park’s powered amenities to be more energy efficient via grant funding, the Parks Department can both reduce energy consumption and free up additional funds to provide the community with more recreational opportunities.
PECO’s Green Region Open Space program awards grants to organizations geared toward protecting and improving open space in southeastern Pennsylvania. This Investment is part of PECO’s Path to clean, an initiative set up by PECO with the goal of reducing operation-based emissions by half by 2030.
