The Souderton-Telford Rotary Club recently held a sponsor reception to recognize and thank the donors who helped fund and realize the Souderton Community Park Project.
The reception took place during the afternoon of June 11 at the Souderton Community Park, and included dinner provided by Franconia Heritage Banquet and Conference Center, as well as a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the park’s new playground.
As part of the renovation project, not only was a new playground installed with brand new, state-of-the-art equipment, but both the Maurice W. Foulke bandshell and the park’s pavilion also received major updates. A multipurpose building containing new restrooms was also built as part of the project.
The idea for the restoration project was first conceived before the pandemic in 2019, with the Souderton Telford Rotary Club on the forefront of the fundraising efforts, committing $250,000 to the project. As a part of the donations honored at the event, Univest, Bergey’s inc., and Clemens Food Group were each recognized for the contributions of $100,000 each. Also included in the efforts was a grant of $250,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources.
Also honored for their service to the rotary club were members Marc Rosenberger and Charles Allebach, who have had the Concert Sundaes Lawn and Pocket Park at the at the corner of Reliance Road and Main Street dedicated to them respectively.
