More than 60 emergency medical technician students at Freedom Valley Medical Training Institute are slated to graduate this Saturday.
The summer class graduation ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Towamencin Fire Company on Bustard Road. This was the first summer where the institute had two nine-week summer classes running, with a total of 64 students participating, said Shannon Moyer-Pasquale, Director of Education and Workforce Development at the Freedom Valley Medical Training Institute.
"We give them the skills and the building blocks and prepare them for emergency situations in the field,” said Moyer-Pasquale. "They work hard over the summer, so we want to get them together with their friends and families to see them get their certificate of completion for the program.”
The Freedom Valley Medical Training Institute — which is affiliated with the Freedom Valley Medical Rescue — prepares community members and emergency responders to provide first aid and medical care to the ill and injured, according to its website. The institute offers EMT classes and First Aid CPR lessons, among other classes.
