Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Invites Veterans to Resource Fair

(The following information was provided by the office of the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds.)

Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg invites all veterans to a Montgomery County Veterans Resource Fair this October, hosted by her office. The Resource Fair will be held at the Montgomery County Human Services Center, 1430 Dekalb Street in Norristown on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. until noon.

“My goal of this event is to showcase all of the county services available to veterans under one roof,” said Sorg. “While not every county office has a specific veterans program, every office serves the veterans of our county in a unique way.”

In addition to the Recorder of Deeds office, which will be recording veteran’s military discharge papers and providing veterans’ discount ID cards and signing homeowners up for FraudSleuth, there will also be information and services from Montgomery County departments including Veterans Affairs, Prothonotary, Voter Services, Sheriff’s Office, Community Connections, Senior Services and more.

Representatives from the Coatesville VA Medical Center, the Norristown Vet Center and Congresswoman Madeleine Dean’s office will also be in attendance to provide information and to answer questions. The congresswoman’s office can help a veteran request an expedited copy of their discharge document from the National Archives.

The Montgomery County Office of Veterans Affairs will also be hosting a food drive to benefit homeless and disadvantaged veterans in our region. Donations will benefit Veterans Coalition of Pennsylvania. The organization’s high priority items include non-perishable food goods – both canned and dry goods – socks, travel sized toiletries, and feminine products.

Registrations for the Veterans Resource Fair is recommended. Veterans can register online by filling out this form or by calling the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office at 610-278-3289.
