Several residents of the Bucks-Mont area received awards from the Towamencin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) at their Nov. 12 meeting.

• Marcia Wise received the DAR Community Service award for her long-time efforts in volunteering as a member of Gwynedd Friends Meeting for Family Promise of Montco PA (FP), formerly Inter-Faith Housing Alliance. Among her accomplishments over the years, Marcia organized the volunteer services needed to feed, house, and provide other services to homeless families. Prior to and during the first two years of COVID-19, Marcia found ways to continue to provide needed food to the FP agency and their food banks, and to adapt methods so that their services to those in need could continue.

• Tristan Boyd was the recipient of the DAR Outstanding Teacher of American History award. Tristan, who has taught United States History at Souderton Area School District since 2009, has mentored new teachers and authored curriculum. He has been a member of their “train-the trainer” programs, a group instrumental in providing teachers and students with technologies needed to enhance and streamline learning instruction.

Four local high school students received the DAR Good Citizen award:

• Ian Alexander LaBadie, North Penn High School

• Mariah Grace Foote, Pennridge High School

• Kathryn C. Moran, Abington Senior High School

• Natalie Ann Drelling, Perkiomen School

Students, who are selected by their teachers and peers, must demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities.
