North Penn Students Participate in Regional, All-State Orchestras

Ten North Penn School District students participated in the District 11 Orchestra of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), which was held Jan. 14 at Upper Perkiomen High School. District 11 invites students from Bucks and Montgomery counties to audition for the honors band.

Additionally, four of those students successfully auditioned for the Region VI Orchestra. Region VI invites students from Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Philadelphia, and Delaware counties to audition. Three of the North Penn students in Region VI Orchestra were selected for the All-State Orchestra which will be held April 6 to April 9 in the Poconos.

To audition for both district and regional orchestras, students must submit an audition tape playing scales, a solo piece, and a sight-reading exercise. Judges then selected students to participate in the honor orchestras.

"We are so excited to once again have a high number of orchestra students participating in the district and regional bands,” said Erica Millbourne, Orchestra Director at North Penn High School and Penndale Middle School. "I am extremely proud of all the students who auditioned and helped represent North Penn in these groups.”
