State Rep. Malagari Presents Souderton Area For All with $1,500 Check

State Rep. Steven Malagari presented a $1,500 award from the PA Tourism Office to Souderton Area For All to help spread inclusivity awareness.

“I’m really proud of what everyone out here is working toward,” Malagari said. “It’s great to see the community come together to ensure everyone feels welcome. These celebrations really show our LGBTQ+ neighbors that Souderton is a place they can show their pride.”

Souderton Area For All held its first public event on Saturday, June 4, to kick off LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Malagari said the group hopes to grow their organization and have more resources for a larger Pride event next year and have started planning a series of activities to make LGBTQ+ Pride visible in the community.

Volunteers for SAFA said they are grateful for the support from Malagari and financial help from the PA Tourism Office.

Incorporated in January, SAFA is Souderton’s newest 501(c)(3) organization. It was created by a group of local residents and parents of school students over the past year to promote their vision of a just, equitable, and compassionate community.

Since last year, they have organized backyard meetings, spoken at school board meetings, and hosted Zoom webinar conversations -- all before they were a formally incorporated and legally recognized nonprofit organization.

SAFA invites anyone interested in joining them in promoting, celebrating, educating, and advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community to connect through their website: www.soudertonareaforall.org.
