Check Out Scouts BSA Troops in Action at General Nash from Feb. 27 Through March 4

Members of Boy Scount Troop 51 in Hatfield Township celebrate their 100th anniversary.

“Be prepared.”

That’s the motto of Boy Scouts of America, and local scouts take that motto to heart.

This month, Scouts BSA troops in our area will be preparing and testing themselves with first aid skills. These troops are inviting your 5th and 6th grade girls and boys for a chance to come see them get ready.

For twenty years, scouts have been gathering at the General Nash District First Aid Meet. Up to thirty Scouts BSA Patrols are presented with seven scenarios, ranging from simple to complex first aid challenges. An eighth station is a general first aid knowledge quiz. The event tests the scouts’ readiness to deal with injuries and sudden health crises, but also teamwork and leadership. The General Nash District is comprised of troops for boys and troops for girls in the North Penn and Souderton school districts.

General Nash District is inviting girls and boys in 5th and 6th grade to come visit troops between Feb. 27 and March 4, as they prepare for the First Aid Meet. A troop near you is eager to welcome you for a visit. Find your local Troop here.

The Boy Scouts of America prepares young people for life, and Scouts BSA is open to boys and girls ages 11 through 17 years old. With more than 130 merit badges — from archery and art to welding and wilderness survival — Scouts BSA is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.

Add in outdoor adventures, hiking and camping, and Scouting gives youth experience that will benefit them throughout their life.
