A certified investigator in fire and explosions and vehicle fires has taken the helm as the newest Deputy Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator for Upper Gwynedd Township, replacing military-bound Jeffrey Tomczak.
Conor McCann was officially hired in his new part-time role by the township Board of Commissioners at a Tuesday night Zoom meeting.
McCann, who is accredited by The Pro Board, which uses National Fire Protection Association professional quality standards in its accreditations, is also the Deputy Fire Marshal/Emergency Management Coordinator for neighboring Whitpain Township.
“In general, we have had a ton of new hires at the township, so we are thankful for him,” said township Manager Sandra Brookley Zadell. “Conor will have a big job ahead of him with Jeff going away for military service. We have all the faith in Conor that he will be ready.”
Furthermore, McCann is trained under FEMA in leadership and influence in crises and emergency management decision-making situations.
A former Hatfield Aquatic Center lifeguard and co-activities manager, McCann received a Bachelor of Science in fire and arson investigation from the University of New Haven, per his LinkedIn page.
