Fire Department of Montgomery Township Announces Death of Longtime Fire Police Officer

The Fire Department of Montgomery Township (FDMT) has announced the death of one of their longtime fire police officers, Maryanne Mogenson.

Mogensen, who previously served with the Colmar Fire Company for 10 years prior to becoming a charter member of FDMT, died early Monday morning surrounded by her two children and her husband of 40 years, John Mogensen. Prior to her death, Maryanne fought a six-month battle against cancer, the department said.

Maryanne met her husband on a fire alarm call at the Marshall’s store in the Airport Square Shopping Center, where she was also a longtime employee until Fall 2020, the department said. On the fire service side, she responded to a total of 1,725 calls for service in her time with FDMT, leaving a lasting impression on the safety and well being of her community.

“Maryanne was a beautiful person that loved her family, her community, and her fire department,” the department said in a statement. “May she now find peace.”
