Penndale Middle School will host a free film screening to open up a community discussion about mental illness—anxiety in particular.
The screening of Angst will take place on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in Penndale’s auditorium. The screening is open to the community, though there is a suggested age for children sixth grade and above
Angst is a 56-minute film that documents various teenagers. It tells about how anxiety impacts various aspects of their lives and how they work through it. The film also talks to Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer, who struggles with anxiety and depression. It also has insight from experts about the causes and social effects, as well as resources and tools for those who need them.
Following the film, there will be a discussion led by North Penn High School Guidance Department Chair Dr. Nicole Yetter and North Penn High School Guidance Counselor Trish Pike. The following outside experts will also contribute to the discussion:
In addition to this screening, the film will be shown to North Penn students who are in seventh grade and above the week. Students will participate in follow-up activities after they view the film.
