Last week, a local store posted a story that soon went viral.
The Shabby Attic, located on Main Street in Lansdale, posted a story about a woman coming into the store and seeing family photos hanging on the walls.
Karin Wolfle, the owner of the store, had seen the photos on the side of the road to be thrown away. She felt bad that someone’s family photos were going to be tossed out, so she decided to pick them up and hang them around the store.
“I always think, ‘That’s someone’s family,’” Wolfle said.
She hung them up, since a lot of the furniture in the store is from the same era that the photos are from, so the photos fit the overall feel of the store.
Then on June 4, a woman came into the store and recognized the people in the photos as family members. Wolfle was out of the store on a project, but when she got back to the store, she met the woman. She told Wolfle that the photos were of her family, one of the photos even being her parents’ wedding photo.
“She was just shocked and I was shocked,” Wolfle said. “It was just really exciting to see the look on her face.”
Although the store has been on Main Street since 2014, this is the first time this sort of thing has happened. According to Wolfle, many people come into the store and recognize a furniture set or a style of furniture that a family member had, but it was never like someone finding their family’s photos.
The woman offered money for the photos, but Wolfle declined payment.
“It was meant to be,” Wolfle said.
Since the post, the story has been picked up by several media outlets and has gone viral. Due to family situations, the woman to whom the photos belonged declined to be interviewed.
