(The following is a press release from the office of state Rep. Steve Malagari.)
State Rep. Steve Malagari, D-Montgomery, introduced the Lansdale Catholic girls’ soccer team in front of the House of Representatives Tuesday to honor the team and coaching staff on its state championship season.
“It’s always exciting to see our local sports teams create excitement inside their school and throughout our community during a successful postseason run,” Malagari said. “This year’s team grabbed our attention as they won the state’s highest honor, but they also captivated us because they embraced the idea of playing for the sheer joy of being able to take the field alongside their teammates.”
Lansdale Catholic won the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A championship with a 1-0 victory against Villa Maria in November.
The victory secured the first state championship for the Lansdale Catholic girls’ soccer program.
Earlier this week, Malagari honored three other state championship teams from his district. The North Penn High School boys’ soccer team, boys’ water polo team and girls’ water polo team visited Harrisburg on Monday.
