Hatfield Township is revving up for its 17th Annual Rocktoberfest and Car Show event, which will take place on Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.at School Road Park.
The event originally started out as just a car show, but since then, it has grown into a community event.
“We had years where they’ve had 200 cars there,” said Ashley O’Neill, the director of Hatfield Parks and Recreation. “Last year we had about 150 cars. This year, because the event has grown so much, we do have it limited to 100 spaces.”
The car show is now pre-registration only—Oct. 1 is the deadline—and there is no registration fee. No day-of registrations will be accepted. Judging for the car show will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the winners will be announced at 2:45 p.m.
Aside from the car show, the event will feature a variety of vendors, live music by the AM Radio Band, and a DJ. There will also be a variety of kids’ activities, including balloon animals, moon bounces, games and caricatures. Local dance troops and karate groups will put on live demos.
Food will be available from a variety of food trucks, Vinny’s Pizzarama and Boy Scout Troop 51. A variety of local organizations, such as the Bookmobile and the local neighborhood watch will be on site to give out information. Emmanuel EC Church will also have pumpkin decorating available. Firetrucks and municipal cars will be on display for people of all ages to check out. The event is rain or shine.
Handicap parking and limited parking will be available at the park. There will be additional parking at the township building, the aquatic center, and on North Penn Road. A free shuttle bus will be available to take people between the parking spots and the event. The shuttle buses will run constantly.
“We’ve really tried to make it more of a whole community event,” O’Neill said. “It showcases Hatfield itself. There’s a little something to do for everybody.”
