Trevor Noah’s suit for this year’s Emmy Awards had a prominent local tie-in, thanks to a North Penn graduate who is making a name for himself in the world of men’s fashion.
Lansdale native Aleks Musika and his business partner, Davidson Petit-Frère, built their business on Instagram in 2013 and have since dressed celebrities such as Michael B. Jordan and Stephen Curry among others, according to the New York Times. In the case of Noah’s suit, it was made out of silk mohair, and came with a three-button lapel vest made with velvet.
According to Philly.com, Musika and his partner make 700 suits per year for people in Europe and in the United States. The suits range from $2,400 to $10,000. The duo went from having an Instagram account with no investors to a company with an investor within a two-week span.
"We came on the scene interested in a mix of patterns and bright colors,” Musika told Philly.com. “Things that traditionally don't work together. But we wanted the [artisanship] of a master tailor."
According to Philly.com, Musika grew up wearing his brother’s hand-me-downs and worked jobs such as mowing lawns and raking leaves in order to buy his own clothes. After graduating from North Penn High School and West Chester University, he worked various jobs before being hired as Tom Ford’s made-to-measure suiting specialist.
