Hatfield Borough will ring in a new season with an afternoon of fun for all ages. The annual Fall Fest and Car Show is set to take place along Market Street and Lincoln Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. The event runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
According to Lindsay Hellmann, Hatfield’s public information coordinator, the fall fest has always taken place as an “experience Hatfield” event, but this year is the fifth year of the car show. The car show has grown from 30 to 40 cars the first year to about 120 cars since.
“We love when people come from out of town,” said Hellmann. “We love when people from here come in. It’s just a great day for everybody.”
There is no registration fee for cars to show, but a $5 donation is recommended upon arrival that will be donated to a local charity. Pre-registration guarantees a swag bag and a feature in the Car Show Program. While the deadline for pre-registration has passed, it is still recommended that those wanting to show their car register before the day of the event.
Aside from the car show, there are free activities for kids, including face painting, balloon art and moon bounces. Emmanuel EC Church is also holding a pumpkin decorating fundraiser where attendees can buy the pumpkin and decorate it for free.
The Flower Power Band will be performing in the Franconia Auto parking lot. There will also be a DJ near the kids’ activities and there will be acoustic music in the auto museum. This year, there will be a “food court” in the Five Star parking lot. In years past, food vendors were spread out.
According to Hellmann, the event is a way to get people into Hatfield Borough and showcase everything it has to offer, from the businesses to the services.
“A lot of people don’t realize the Borough is a separate entity from the Township,” Hellmann said. “Even when registering for the event, they’ll say, ‘Oh, are you the Rocktoberfest?’ and we’re like ‘No, we’re separate from them.’”
