The cause of death of an inmate at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility has been released by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office
According to the Mercury, Ronald M. Brauning Jr., 41, of Abington, died in October as a result of a drug overdose while in custody at the county jail in Lower Providence. Montgomery County First Deputy Coroner Alexander Balacki ruled that the overdose was a combined intoxication containing fentanyl and the antidepressants nortriptyline, mirtazapine and fluoxetine.
Brauning was arrested in March 2018 on charges related to the August 2017 overdose death of Ronald Solomon, 36, of Hatfield. Those charges included involuntary manslaughter, possession of and possession with the intent to deliver controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities allege that Brauning sold Solomon fentanyl and methamphetamine on Aug. 13, 2017. Solomon then reportedly returned to his home, where he ingested the drugs and was later found unresponsive on his garage floor by his girlfriend, who called emergency personnel.
Solomon was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
