The Montgomery County Office of Public Health is investigating a “probable case” of West Nile Virus in a 59-year-old Montgomery Township resident, according to WFMZ. This is one of two ongoing investigations in the county, the other being a resident of Lower Merion Township.
According to a release, both cases are pending confirmation by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. If confirmed, they would be the first two cases of the disease this year, according to Action News.
County residents are being instructed to take protective measures to protect themselves from the diseases. These actions include wearing protective clothing, applying insect repellent, avoiding being outside around dawn and dusk, and eliminating standing water around homes.
