A Jenkintown man is facing multiple felony charges after a Montgomery Township homeowner found and subdued him in his garage during the early morning hours of Aug. 17.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers from the Montgomery Township Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home on the 100 block of Stayman Drive just before 5 a.m. Upon entering the home, police found Joseph Kisela, 43, of Jenkintown, lying face down on the ground with his arms out, the report states.
“The homeowner heard a thud at the time of the incident, then got up with a flashlight and firearm and found a light on downstairs,” said Lt. Gerald Dougherty, of the Montgomery Township Police Department. “[The homeowner] investigated further and found [Kisela] in the garage. [Kisela] immediately responded to commands to get on the ground and don’t move.”
Lt. Dougherty added that Kisela was taken into custody without further incident.
“The homeowner did the right thing, and the situation came to a safe conclusion,” said Dougherty.
Kisela was arraigned on felony charges of “Burglary-Overnight
Accommodations, Person Present” and “Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure.” He also
faces a misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking.
