Hatfield Wraps Up 2018 'Music Feast' Series with High Noon

High Noon performs at School Road Park in Hatfield.

Southern rock tribute band High Noon performed the last concert of Hatfield’s 2018 Music Feast free concert series at School Road Park on Monday evening.

High Noon is a seven-piece band that plays music of bands such as the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and other southern rock bands that were popular in the 1970’s. The band features Terry Tyson on guitar and vocals, Steve Gallucci on bass, Doug Landis on keyboard and saxophone, Don McCord on vocals, saxophones, flute, and percussion, Scott Stephens on guitar and Sandy Croxton on percussion.

While most tribute bands focus on just one artist, High Noon plays music from multiple bands since southern rock only has a handful of main bands in the genre and they can appeal to more people.

“What we’re really trying to do is play everything note-for-note off the record, so we want people to come and feel like they’re hearing it exactly as the original artist did, what they hear on a regular record, versus just doing are own version,” said Scott Stephens, founder of the band.

The band members met while performing in a classic rock tribute band, and they are all from the area. Sandy Croxton is from Hatfield and a few of the members went to North Penn High School. They have previously performed at School Road Park as members of a different band.

The concert was well-received by those in attendance, with concert goers clapping along and dancing to the music. The audience even gave the band a standing ovation after they played “Free Bird,” a classic by Lynyrd Skynyrd. High Noon will be playing a few local shows in the coming months, including Lansdale Bike Night on Sept. 8.

Other acts in this year’s series included Real Diamond, which is a Neil Diamond tribute band, Southern Edge and Two Rocks Rye.
