Firefighters are battling a working trailer fire Thursday afternoon at a home in Salford Township.
The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. at 47 Beltz Road, near Ridge Road, involving a 10-foot by 20-foot trailer. Reports on the scene said the fire began catching the woods on fire, but it was placed under control in 30 minutes.
According to initial reports, heavy black smoke could be seen from at least a mile away as crews arrived on scene.
Multiple fire companies have been dispatched on a first alarm assignment, including Tylersport, Red Hill, Skippack, Towamencin, Harleysville and Green Lane fire companies. Additional assistance has been requested from Telford and Trumbauersville fire companies, with field units responding.
Conditions upon arrival indicated a significant fire, though details on whether all occupants were accounted for or if any injuries have been reported were not immediately available.
Due to the home’s remote location, access and water supply may present challenges for firefighters as operations continue.
This is a developing incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available
Editor's note: The story erroneously reported the fire at the Cape Cod-style, 1.5-story frame house on the property.
