North Penn Television’s latest feature offers a deeper look at what it takes to keep North Penn High School running after hours, following Second Shift Facilities Supervisor Earl Snyder through a typical night on the job.

In “From the Building That Never Sleeps: A Night with NPHS’s Second Shift Supervisor Earl Snyder,” Snyder walks viewers through an evening that rarely slows down — from preparing gym spaces for back-to-back athletic practices to disinfecting wrestling mats, coordinating staff coverage and responding to unexpected calls across the building.

“Basically, what I do is I try to get in here, see what I need to do, and go from there,” Snyder said, as he moved between tasks.

From checking lights and securing spaces to coordinating crews and maintaining classrooms, Snyder’s work unfolds largely out of sight but plays a critical role in the daily experience of students and staff, according to NPTV.

The video highlights the constant motion behind the scenes, as Snyder checks air handling systems, monitors pool operations, locks down access points and even heads outside in rain and cold to secure stadium areas.

On a typical shift, he said, the job can mean logging more than 20,000 steps while balancing logistics for events, safety checks and nightly resets.

“It’s not just janitorial work,” he said. “It’s logistics … setups for events, tear downs for events.”

By the end of the night, as classrooms are reset and the building quiets, Snyder reflected on the role he and his team play in the school’s daily success.

“I take pride in what I do,” he said. “I just know that it helps make North Penn a great school that it is."
