Delaware suspect was caught by Montgomery Township K-9 after Towamencin vehicle break-ins in January 2025
A Delaware man awaits sentencing after pleading guilty in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court to felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor reckless endangerment, stemming from a case last year at Towamencin Condominiums where a police officer was hit by a car.
.Ayden Michael Drummond, 20, of the 10500 block of Price Drive, Milford, DE, was caught breaking into vehicles in January 2025 and was later apprehended by a police K-9.
Drummond, along with two other accomplices, fled in a vehicle from the scene of the crime, crashing into numerous carports and vehicles, injuring a police officer along the way, per court records.
Other charges were dismissed at the negotiation, including felony charges of assault of a law enforcement officer and fleeing police, and misdemeanor charges of evading arrest on foot and simple assault.
On Jan. 6, 2025, at 2:42 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of two people breaking into cars in the area of Continental Drive. Upon arrival, police found a black Chrysler 300 with multiple people outside of it in front of 302 Bunker Hill Road, per the complaint.
An officer exited his patrol vehicle, as two more arrived and activated emergency lights. One officer attempted to block the Chrysler, but the driver went around the passenger side of the patrol car to escape, police said.
The driver of the Chrysler continued to flee, hitting a parked car, police said. Meanwhile, an officer approached the crash on foot, but when the driver hit a second car, it sent the vehicle into the officer.
The Chrysler driver continued south on Bunker Hill Road, striking multiple car ports, police said. At that time, the car started to roll forward, and three people jumped out of the car and toward the rear of the condominium pool, according to the complaint.
Seeing that the suspects were entering the tree line at around 3 a.m., and that there was an unsecured vehicle, officers opted not to pursue the suspects on foot, police said.
While officers were clearing the black Chrysler 300, a newer-model Acura Integra drove past police, ignoring their commands to stop, police said.
Additional units were then called from multiple agencies, and officers set up a perimeter around the area, police said.
A resident reported to Montgomery County dispatch that two men were in her backyard, per the complaint, however police canvassed the area with no results.
Montgomery Township Police arrived on scene with a K-9, which assisted in the tracking in the woods between Liberty Bell Drive and Old Morris Road, police said.
Drummond was found under a bush. An officer drew his gun and ordered Drummond to show his hands, and he was placed into custody without issue, police said.
The other two suspects were not identified.
Drummond is free on $25,000 unsecured bail ahead of sentencing.
