Souderton Borough officials will host a public meeting later this month to gather input on the future of the borough’s single-hauler trash collection program, as the current contract approaches its 2026 expiration.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 23 at Souderton Borough Hall, 31 W. Summit St. Borough leaders are seeking feedback from residents ahead of the contract renewal process, which will ultimately be decided by borough council.
Souderton has operated under a single-hauler system since 2016. In a message shared to the community, Mayor Dan Yocum said the upcoming renewal could bring difficult decisions, citing rising costs tied to trash and recycling services. He noted that while the current provider, J.P. Mascaro, has delivered reliable service overall, no system is without challenges.
Yocum, who has long supported the single-hauler model, urged residents to stay engaged as the process moves forward. He cautioned that the borough may face a choice between higher service costs or potentially moving away from the current system altogether.
Residents who are unable to attend the meeting can submit feedback via email to Borough Manager Stephanie Jarrett at [email protected].
