A New Jersey man wanted since October 2025 on charges related to the rape of a Hatfield teenager was arraigned Thursday and jailed on the allegations.

Jason Anton Perez, 40, of the 80th block of 13th Street, Hazlet, NJ, was charged Oct. 31, 2025 by Hatfield Police for the alleged June 8, 2025 incident with felony counts of rape by force and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by force, as well as two misdemeanor charges each of indecent assault by force and indecent assault without consent, according to court documents. Perez is also facing a sole misdemeanor corruption of minors charge.

A warrant was issued Oct. 31, 2025, according to the affidavit, and Perez was arraigned Thursday before on-call Magisterial District Judge Jodi L. Griffis, who set bail at $200,077 cash bail, which includes a probation detainer.

On the night of June 11, 2025, a 16-year-old girl and her mother came into Hatfield Police Department to report a rape on June 8, three days prior at their home in Hatfield Township, police said. The mother told police that her friend, Perez, came to her home with two other friends on June 7, 2025, where they drank alcohol in the basement of the victim’s home, per the complaint.

Police said, at around 11:30 p.m., the victim’s mother went out to her car in the driveway and retuned inside to go to sleep. At around 5 a.m., the victim was woken up by Perez, investigators alleged, who told him to get out of her bedroom. He left the room and the victim fell back asleep.

Then, police said Perez returned to the victim’s bedroom, where he undressed her and sexually assaulted her while asleep. She tried to push him away, but she could not, police said. He stopped and left her room, and then she redressed herself and went back to sleep, according to the complaint.

Perez then allegedly came into the victim’s room a third time, where he undressed her and allegedly raped her.

The victim tried pushing him off, at which time he asked if she needed a break, according to the complaint.

Police said the victim called her boyfriend and Perez returned to the room to humiliate the victim verbally.

Video footage from the living room was given to police allegedly showing Perez going from the living room to the hallway, where the victim’s bedroom and bathroom was located, multiple times, which police said was consistent with the victim’s testimony.

Perez’s preliminary hearing rescheduled from March 23 to April 14 before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy. He has retained private Philadelphia defense attorney Thomas Burke.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
